iPhones, Google Phones, Cell phones … honestly who really cares. It’s winter. There is white stuff on the ground. It is time to go 100 mph plus blasting through the backwoods. Yes, dear sports nerds, the Amsoil World Championship Snowmobile Derby, held in Eagle River Wisconsin is reving up on Jan. 8. Now Eagle River is pretty much The Masters of snowmobiles. The event was immortalized back in 1968 when ABC Wide World of Sports televised the event: such heavies as Bart Starr and Ray Nitschke showed up to watch track snow mobile racing. And this year, there is some heavy duty rides at this years race. The modern race ready snow mobile borrows much technology from stock, street racing and drag racing, including sophisticated transmissions, engines, treads, shocks and steering technologies. These machines easily touch 100 mph. And far higher in shorter bursts. You can’t beat the cool looking suits too.
