booksI don’t know about you guys but I get a lot of my reading done in the john and while on the throne I read some really good books recently:

“How Soccer Explains the World: An Unlikely Theory of Globalization” (Paperback) by Franklin Foer  is a great book about how the game is played differently around the world and its cultural impact.  Stuff like how war lords own teams in eastern Europe and how if you are any good at soccer in Brazil you are shipped overseas by the time you are 10.

“Boys Will Be Boys: The Glory Days and Party Nights of the Dallas Cowboys Dynasty” by Jeff Pearlman is a great book about how Michael Irvin and the Cowboys used to destroy themselves after every game back in their heyday.

Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Made a Nation by John Carlin is a a moving book about how Mandela used the Rugby World Cup to bring his country together.  It is going to be a movie coming out with Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon.
