After several shaky weeks, looks like the geeks over at NBC/Microsoft/The NFL — and whoever else is responsible for the Sunday Night Football Extra, the online player that streams Sunday Night Football over the web — has finally gotten the kinks out of its offense. Sunday night’s damn good Giant/Cardinals game was actually a decent online experience for a change, at least on our FiOS fiber to home connection in suburban New York.

Gone was the jittery, slow to load basically out of sync imagery that has plagued the experience in previous weeks. Instead, the defeat of the Giants was reasonable to look at, though no where close to real HD as advertised. Also of interest was the iso camera feeds this week that were actually interesting. This time they had the cable cam, the sideline cam, the end zone cam and the hero cam. And the mix this week was interesting. Clearly a high powered passing oriented offense works better in these multi-angle environments, since there is more to look at for longer.

Andrea Kramer seemed to also get a miroblogging lesson. This week’s short posts from the sideline while far from Pulitzer prise winning stuff were actually interesting. And the links to meaningful plays and player history was also not bad. If you want to check it out, hit sundaynightfootball.com. And we would do it quick. NBC just announced it will start charging for Hulu, their online video site. So you can expect for them to start charging for this as well.
