The EPL Has New Balls

Nike has designed a brand new high tech soccer ball and it is going into use in the brand new 09/10 season of the Premier League (England), La Liga (Spain) and Serie A (Italy). These are basically the three biggest pro soccer leagues in the world. In contrast I think the MLS has a ball designed by Henry Ford. Anyway this ball is bad ass and goalies are going to hate it. First of all the ball is designed to have a 360 degree sweet spot, no matter where you hit it it is going to give you an optimal response. Each panel has a consistent pressure making the ball the same all over. So players won’t have to move the ball around to find the panel with the air valve on a free kick. Nike has also worked with vison scientist on the pattern on the ball. It is easier to pick up in you peripheral vision than other balls. The ball also has textured casing around the outside that reduces drag and gives it a truer flight path. Its going to cost 83 Euros, so don’t kick it over the fence!
